Hello everyone, my name is Taylor Stevens and I make up one half of Amasian Galaxy! I am Colton's older sister (by three and a half years). I was born in Burnsville, Minnesota but I half travelled all over the United States and have lived in seven total states (North Carolina is the only one that Colton hasn't also lived in). I am also half Korean, and because of that I have always been fascinated with my Asian roots. Following that fascination lead to me to discovering more about Asia (especially Japan). So in middle school I began watching anime and reading manga taking recommendations from any other kids that I could find. I was a total book nerd in my childhood, and my mom was all about taking me to the book store and the local library rather than letting me spend aimless hours on the internet. So this led me to reading quite a bit of manga and only watching anime whenever I could snag an
hour of internet time after my homework was done and such. Also during this period of my life I discovered my favorite ALL TIME anime/manga series Marmalade Boy which is by Wataru Yoshizumi. It is my go to anime series and never seizes to make me fall in love with it everytime I watch it. In the series however the main Character Miki Koishikawa was a high school tennis player, and this led me to believe that if she played tennis, then that was something that I needed to be doing as well. This led to a five year long tennis career and high school. I am not sporty in any way shape or form, but I loved every second of learning the art of the sport and I will forever thank Miki for inspiring me to play tennis. (Fun fact: The first website I ever created was in 2007 and it was a website completely dedicated to Marmalade Boy!)
Moving onto high school and my later teenaged years, I have been reading less and less manga and watching a lot more anime online. This was simply because 2008-2010 were the biggest years in smart phones begginging to reach everyone my age. Up to this point I had owned small flip phones that either had no internet access or tiny screen that wasn't approprite for watching videos on. However with much anticipation, I finally had my own iPhone 3 and a laptop with helped me watch whatever I wanted! On the downside, this evolution in technology really distracted me from my love for literature and since my days in middle school I don't really read that often. HOWEVER, I still loved anime and would watch it often. I also continued my studies into Japanese culture, and had gotten my hands on every learning material I could to understand and speak the language. I dedicated more nights to learning phrases and writing the Hiragana alphabet than I did on my homework.
One lucky day, I came home from school to be surprised with some fantastic news from my father. I was going to be leaving the United States for the first time. Not only was I leaving the country but Colton, my dad, and I were going to be going to Okinawa, Japan for an entire week over Christmas break! (2011) We went to visit my step mother and her friend Joyce who we're stationed near the U.S. Marine base in Okinawa. I have never felt so at home in my life, and even to this day this experience in Japan was one of the best times in my life. To experience the culture, to be able to speak and read the language that I had spent so much time learning, eating authentic ramen at midnight and also eating so many benimo tartes that I am surprised I didn't return to the states a violet shade was the best experince I could have ever asked for. For years now I have always said I would easily return to Japan and never look back, and this is all thanks to my love for anime and manga. For years now it has defined a part of who I am.

Since my life changing trip to Okinawa my love for my Asian heritage has only grown. I spent the rest of high school continuing to learn more of the Japanese language and watching a lot of anime. I also formed the best friend/sibling relationship that I could have ever asked for with my little brother Colton. (Yes you are little..) I would like to think that I was a major influence on Colton beginning to watch anime, but he has his own story to tell. One lovely day at home Colton and I had the brilliant idea to start up a YouTube channel that we could act out skits together on and we decided that we would call it Amasian Galaxy. (Fun fact: Amasian is simply putting together amazing and Asian. We also loved the game Super Mario Galaxy at the time which is where Galaxy comes from.) However as time went on we never actually followed through with the idea. I went on to having a low key vlog channel for a short period of time but that project died. So for the time being Amasian Galaxy was to be put on hold.
Now in the present, I have graduated high school (2012) in Saint Clairsville, Ohio where I still currently live. I also attended Ohio University for a short period of time as an art student, and
was able to finally take an official Japanese language course. From there I went to work full time as a cook, and live in an apartment with my boyfriend Alex and our two cats, Kili
and Fili. Some of my other interests are Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. I am also very passionate about my tattoos and drinking tea. Colton and I are both huge fans Pokemon which also takes up a large piece of our lives. I am an avid Pokemon card collector, and actually used to have a YouTube channel dedicated majorly to Pokemon. But nowadays my channel has taken a different form which allows me to dig deeper into my girly side. However at the end of everyday I have to either watch some sort of anime or a long string of YouTube videos. Often Colton comes over to my apartment and we will start watching an anime series together that neither of us has seen before. Our love for anime has really brought us closer together as siblings as it is something that we can always discuss together. (I actually ask Colton quite often which series I should start next...) Because of this love of anime that we share, what better way to use Amasian Galaxy than a site to talk about all things ANIME!
